For me personally, if I have a mediocre hand, I’ll stack either my high or my low hand to guarantee a split with the dealer. I don’t think I’m adventerous enough for this game to try and split a mediocre hand and try to win both the high and low. I have that “live to gamble another day” mentality.

I’m with you on that one. I also have that same mantra when playing pai gow. If I’m in a chipper mood, I’ll try a few times to beat the dealer at both the high and the low with a marginal hand, but I do what you mentioned a lot of the time.

I was once a casino dealer and pai gow is one of my table games. We are mandated to split pairs, but there are few exception like a pair of low cards.

Honestly I think that conservative can be a really good thing. There is no point being cocky about stuff and ending up losing the lot in a very short time and not being able to play any longer. I like the playing for the game itself, not just the winning, so I don’t want to be out too fast.

Right now its more sort of gibberish to me but soon I would also learn the rules of this game. Please help me with your expertise in the due course!

Observe first before you play. You can also ask the dealers on how to arrange your cards.
