I don’t know a lot about this game, bar the real basics. I’d like to learn more though.

I know that the game is played with a single 52 card deck, plus a joker. What is the purpose of the joker to the game-how is it played?

It depends for a start whether its being played in the five or the two hand. In the two it’s always an ace. In the five, it may complete one of the straights, though I’m not 100% certain how that works, or else can be an ace. I think that some states in California are an exception-they have rules of their own.

The joker is used to complete a flush, straight flush or a straight. If it is not used to complete one of those hands then it is treated like an ace. If a joker is used to complete a flush than it is used in place of the highest unused card.

Thanks Joker for clearing that up. I was always wondering what you did with the Joker. I’ve only played maybe a total of 15 times but it is fun once you get the hang of it.

Well you’ve played more times than I have! I really would love to learn this game a little more, it seems like a very interesting twist on poker, which after a few too many games gets a tiny bit-well I guess I get flippant about playing it.

Joker? Wow. None of the games I know uses joker and this is pretty cool way to play cards indeed. My interest is rising pretty rapidly!
